PASA held four
agility trials in
2013:
February 23/24: Fair Grounds, Los Banos,CA
March 30/31: Stanislaus County Fair Grounds, Turlock, CA
August 3/4 : Manzanita Park,
Prunedale, CA
November 23/24 : VIPAWZ, San Martin, CA November
23/24
Our last trial of
the 2013 season
was held at VIPAWZ, a covered arena in San Martin, CA. We had
the
cool in the morning and warming up to shirtsleeves weather that has
been the norn in Northern California this year. It would be
nice
to actually have some rain..
PASA held a one ring event. This worked well to
minimize conflicts and time impacted by course building. It
also
gave us lots of room inside the arean for warming up and
crating. Richard Pttiman was our
judge. He had
a great mix of speed and
challenge. More than one of use will be practicing his gamble
sequences. Being the last trial of the year, the Silver
Buckle
awards were made, as well as High in Trial awards.
Trial committee was:
Chair: Jean Danver
Grounds: Jean Danver

The
trial had five classes each
day. We had "NQ"
raffles on Saturday and
Sunday.
There
were two ATCHs earned over the weekend. Dave Grubel's Aussie Boca
earned her first ATCH. It was also the first ATCH
for
Laurie Preston's Aussie, Pippin.

Note that
all dogs with a Q are listed. Their group may change
if
they do not yet have regular Q. There may be differences from
HIT winners
because the rules of which level a dog is in differs and how class are scored
differs.
For Silver Buckle, dogs
are in the group that corresponds to their first regular Q of the year
and yps is
the average of their regular runs only.
All Qs count the same. HIT group is last regular entered of the trial
and Q point values are weighted. Only November runs are displayed, but
the score shows the total over all trials.
Sad August Update: Warren Tielelman, who has run with his
dogs,
Pirate & Zayvee, in all so our trials so far this year, died of
an
apparent heart attack on August 12. August 3/4
Our
3rd trial of the 2013 season was held at Manzanita Park in Prunedale,
CA outside. We had great weather for the dogs. It
was
cloudy and cool all but about 2 hours of each day when the sun peeked
through. But then, that is typical weather for Manzanita Park
at
this time of the year. So, all out of area attendees got to
cool
off.
PASA held a one ring event with two rings. This worked well
to
minimize conflicts and time impacted by course building.
Scott
Lovelis was our judge. He had a great mix of doable
and
challenge. Scott was very popular with the competitors.

The
trial had five classes each
day. We had "NQ"
raffles on Saturday and
Sunday.
We
had some events that helped make the weekend special. Susan
Laursen and Corinne Stewart had retirement runs for their Aussies,
Murphy and Marley, treating us all with
cookies.
Saturday was puppy socialization day. At least three people
brought puppies so there were lots of them for people and dogs alike to
play with. So, the puppies pretty much stold the show.
There
were four ATCHs earned over the weekend. It started right away
with Sue Grigsby's Aussie, Splash,
getting her
ATCH-VII. Later that day, Sara McAulay's Aussie, Moxie,
earned
his
first ATCH, followed by Neva Perrotta's Australian Cattle Dog, Ranger,
also earning his first ATCH.
Sunday afternoon
we had our last ATCH of the weekend - Geri Lu Jurey's Border Collie,
Flint.

The
high in trial competition was quite close with all of the winners not
determined until jumpers on Sunday. Both Open and Novice had
ties
in the Q point count. Those categories had to be determined
by
the regular yards per second tie breaker.
High

March
30/31
Our
2nd trial of the 2013 season was held at the Stanislaus County Fair
Grounds outside. So we got to play lady-luck with the
weather. Saturday was a nice, quite warm day. But
as
predicted it rained quite hard Saturday night and Sunday morning until
about 3:30 AM. There was quite a bit of water on
canopy
roofs. However, the day turned out to be quite nice and
everyone
dried off just in time for more rain during the last round of jumpers
and packing up to go home. Luckily most of the trailer was
already packed up. It really was a Happy Easter complete with
colored boiled eggs in the morning hospitality.
PASA held a one ring event. Sue Graham was our
judge. She
added to the fun of weekend, posing with bunny ears at one
point.
We almost didn't get her. Security at Ontario airport
couldn't
tell the difference between the smell of farm shoes and toxic
substances. The process passed her flight time.
Luckily, South West airlines was cooperative and got her on a
later flight.

The
trial had five classes each
day. We had "NQ"
raffles on Saturday and
Sunday. This trial was held in conjunction with Delta's
Conformation, Rally and Obedience shows. So there was lots of
things for dogs to participate in.
Kerry Levin and Jo-Z earned an ATCH on the 2nd Saturday gamble, but
Kerry didn't
figure it out until Sunday Morning. It was a big weekend for
Jo-Z
who also won High in Trial Elite. Two more ATCHs were earned
on
Sunday. Mona Nichols and Sunny earned his ATCH-II.
He was
also Best of Breed in Delta's Saturday Conformation Show. So,
an
extra big weekend for him, too. Denise Patterson and Delilah
earned
her ATCH-III on the last Sunday Regular run.

February
23/24
This
was the first
trial of the 2013 season. It was held under cover in
the Fair Grounds in Los Banos. PASA was also holding 4
Conformation shows in the same location over the weekend. On
Saturday, we were treated
to lots of wind, which made it quite chilly and dusty in the ring
area. Luckily, the half of the arena where exhibiters crated
was
covered with mats. Sunday the wind died down and
it was
cool, but pleasant.
PASA held a one ring event. Chuck Klein was our judge.
He
definitely
contributed to everyone having a good time. His courses were
challenging and a lot of fun. Everyone pitched in to help
break
down the regular ring before moving to Jumpers for the final two rounds
of
the day. We finished the trial & had everything
loaded on the
trailer by about 6pm
