2010 Agility Events

PASA held four agility trials in 2010:
February 20/21: VIPAWZ, San Martin, CA
April 3/4: Stanislaus County Fair Grounds, Turlock, CA
July 31/August 1 : Manzanita Park, Prunedale,  CA
September 18/19 (Western Roundup combined with conformation and obedience):
Manzanita Park, Prunedale,  CA

September 18/19 Western Roundup

This was the last trial of the 2010 season. It was held in the baseball fields at Manzanita Park in Prunedale, CA.   In spite of all the events everything worked out well.  Jason Meeks was our judge and he was a crowd pleaser, as usual.

Trial committee was:
Chair/Grounds: Donna Highstreet
Awards: Arnita Bowman
Secretary: Dave Connet
Chief Course Builder: Susan Laursen
Chief Ring Steward: Maralise Howze
Hospitality: Mona Nichols
Chief Scorekeeper: Marcia Hodes
NQ Raffle/Equipment Transportation: Donna Highstreet

The trial had five classes each day.  Being the last trial of the season, the Silver Buckle awards were determined and awarded.  We had "NQ" raffles on Saturday and Sunday and High in Trial awards and New Title awards.    For an extra treat Susan Laursen got to have ATCH Murphy's picture taken with Judge Jason Meeks.  Murphy earned his ATCH under Jason last year, but Susan miss-counted his Qs and didn't know it.

We had a number of dogs earn new titles:

Congratulations to all our Silver Buckle Winners.

To win a Silver Buckle the dog needs to earn the most Qs of any dog over all the PASA agility trials of the year in the category determined by the level of the dog's 1st regular Q of the season.  Once a dog has won a silver Buckle in a category that dog can not repeat as a winner in the same category.  It can, however, compete in the Winners category.

July 31/ August 1

This was the third trial of the 2010 season and we held it in soccer filed 1 at Manzanita Park in Prunedale, CA.   This was a very nice outdoor space.  The field was large enough for two rings and plenty of space for canopies,  practice jumps and playing with your dog.   Susan Perry was our judge and she did a outstanding professional job and was fun, at the same time.  The courses were fun and challenging and everything went off like clockwork.

April 3/4

This was the second trial of the 2010 season and we proved that the weather gods watched over PASA.  The trial was held outdoors at the Stanislaus County Fair grounds in conjunction with ASCA Conformation and Obedience events put on by Delta ASC.  It was a single ring agility event and the trial was full.  In spite of that we managed to get finished and packed up on Sunday just before the rain.   Our judge, Mark Buehl said that was because he never gets rained on while judging.  We also have to give our chief course builder, Susan Laursen, some credit who figured out a Sunday running order that greatly speed things up.

Trial committee was:
Chair/Grounds: Jean Danver
Awards/NQ Raffle: Arnita Bowman
Secretary: Dave Connet
Chief Course Builder: Susan Laursen
Chief Ring Steward: Maralise Howze
Hospitality: Mona Nichols
Chief Scorekeeper: Marcia Hodes
Equipment Transportation: Jenny Hutchinson

The  trial had five classes each day.    We had "NQ" raffles on Saturday and Sunday.  Arnita changed the way the raffle was done to avoid any of the issues we had last trial and it was a big hit.  The hospitality and decor had an Easter theme thanks to Mona Nichols.

We had one ATCH winner, Bonnie, owned by Douglas Earl, who got that one needed jumpers Q near the end of the last jumpers round of the day.   Doug needs to bring her pole back to the next trial so we all can sign it.

ATCH Bonnie & Douglas Earl celebrating her ATCH award.                                                             Sunday NQ Raffle Table

Note that all dogs with a Q are listed.   Their group may change if  they do not yet have regular Q.  There may be differences in HIT winners because the rules of which class a dog is in differs and how yps is calculated differs.  For Silver Buckle,  dogs are in the group that corresponds to their first regular Q and yps is the average of their regular runs only.  HIT is last regular entered and yps also includes jumpers.

February 20/21

This was the first trial of the 2010 season and were we glad it was held under cover in the VIPAWZ arena in San Martin.  Saturday was nice but it rained on Sunday.  It wasn't freezing, but we were glad to be under cover.

PASA held a two ring one ring event.  The plan was to celebrate the ATCHs that were awarded to dogs because of the change in ASCA rules allowing ATCHs greater that SP.  As it turned out there was only one such dog, but he celebrated anyway.  There were some celebrations as well- Two ATCHs and an anniversary.  Sandra Katzen was our judge.  We also had an apprentice judge, Susan Graham.  Susan acted as the judge on  Saturday with Sandra supervising.

Trial committee was:
Chair/Grounds: Jean Danver
Awards: Arnita Bowman
Secretary: Dave Connet
Chief Course Builder: Susan Laursen
Chief Ring Steward: Maralise Howze
Hospitality: Mona Nichols
Chief Scorekeeper: Marcia Hodes
RV Czar: Arnita Bowman
Equipment Transportation: Donna Highstreet

The  trial had five classes each day.   Saturday we celebrated 4- Legged Flix's first anniversary.  Last February our trial was their first gig.  They have since become a very popular video service.  We were glad to have them here with a cake and a few bottles of champagne to celebrate.    We had "NQ" raffles on Saturday and Sunday which had some timing issues, so suggestions on how to fix them are welcome.

The biggest cause for celebration was Janelle Farkas and her dog, Taxi earning their ATCH on Sunday morning. Taxi needed one
more gamble and kept us on pins and needles until the Sunday gamble
where he nailed it like a pro.

Liza Buckner and her Aussie, ATCH Taiko, arrived on Sunday needing a 5
point regular Q and got it on the first attempt for his ATCH-II.

ATCH-SP Chaps, owned by Jean Danver, also did an ATCH lap celebrating
the ATCH-IV and ATCH-V he was awarded in February and earned during the
past two years.
